White Family Estate

During the 40s a portrait was made of the
family matriarch and placed on porcelain.
Years later, the small iconic image broke in
many pieces, but was lovingly taped back
together and held in a small frame.

A request was made to restore the old image
to its former glory. The pieces were carefully
re-assembled and scanned much larger than
the original. All serious damage was repaired
to make sure that no detail was overlooked.

Even thought the portrait became old and
almost forgotten, a lot of sentimental
attention was given to this family image
as no others were taken during the 1940s.

Originally hand colored, the portrait was of
some historic importance to the family.

The original texture (stippling characteristics)
were preserved to recreate the image meticu-
lously in every detail.

Responsible restoration always includes the
preservation of finishing textures inherent in
the original image.
