Better Living Products Int.
After the company was sold to Canadian
investors, a Internet Website was designed
to introduce products to a large market.
When seeing the website, several questions
arose. If scrolling is essential, because of
lengthy text, the design could allow for a
better introduction of graphics, words and
photos.
After all, why design a website in a vertical
layout for reception on a computer monitor
that is horizontal?
A challenge presented itself to see how this
website could be improved.
The original site used photography that may
be correct, but lacks the necessary ambience
to show the company building as substantial
and in the best possible light. Enhancements
needed to be made.
Instead of cramping finder buttons on the top,
the images can be placed within the presented
field when appropriate.
Solution
The end result in this enhancement is that
graphics are larger, building photographic
image substantially more prominent - added
clouds in sky, corrected building perspective,
improved Canadian flag presence, window
reflections are enhanced.
The company corporate logo, created by
Design Group, and name is much larger to
improve legibility and brand recognition.
The body text follows the “S” graphic outline
and breaks the monotony of all elements flush
left. The section buttons are more prominent.
These are some ideas on how improvements
can be made.
