Cannonball Musical Instruments

Owned an operated by two outstanding
professionals, having degrees in music and
extensive experience in performing, they
decided to design and manufacture a new
line of wind instruments.

A theme for naming instruments was based
on Mediaeval knights, armor, and castles.

Beginning with the company’s new identity
“Cannonball” the choice for product names
followed with the “Black Knight”, “Royal
Crown”, “Excalibur”, etc.

Instrument detail and parts were featured on
separate pages and followed the same layout
as used throughout. Windows, to show the
three horns, were arranged from actual stone
parts, and page numbers used illustrated
engravings as used on horns. Legibility and
organization helped customers find just the
right instrument and parts needed.

Certain text is featured in color to improve
ordering information. Each right-hand page
showed ramparts with shields to continue the
theme.

Different color backgrounds helped offset silver,
gold, and black horns. In each instance, the horn
was isolated first and than integrated with the
new background.

A layout grid system aided in placing text on
each page in the same position to enhance
reader ability to find products/services.

Each horn received special attention to make
sure details were correct, including corrections
for parts having lost color due to photography
lights - a reality that is unavoidable.
